Rapid City Journal: Western coal production is expected to fall by over 30 percent in 2020 due to new federal pollution standards proposed for power plants, according to U.S. Environmental Protection Agency projections.
The decline is anticipated to be offset in part by a rise in natural gas fired generation, which the EPA estimates may increase as much as 18 to 19 percent by 2030.
