Congress won't intervene if LIRR workers strike: lawmakers

Facing an impasse in negotiations and a potential strike as early as July 20, MTA Chairman Tom Prendergast went to Washington on Wednesday to talk with lawmakers, but was told Congressional intervention was "not an option," in the words of one New York Congressman.
