Contaminated soil discovered in Whittiera s Greenway Trail extension area

This strip of property west of Scott Avenue to Santa Gertrudes Avenue that was purchased from Union Pacific Railroad for the Greenway Trail extension has been found to be contaminated with arsenic, lead and zinc. The city of Whittier has received a $200,000 grant from the state to clean up the area that is north of the railroad tracks and north of Lambert Road.
