Striking Crown Metal employee David Elines prevents a bus carrying Crown Metal substitute workers from leaving for five minutes in front of the North York factory, where employees have been on strike for 17 months. When Caterpillar laid off 460 people in 2012 and shuttered their London locomotive factory, politicians of all stripes decried the blow to the province's important manufacturing sector.
