(Telecompaper) Deutsche Telekom has taken advantage of its appearance at CeBit in Hannover to launch a free 'made in Germany' portfolio of security software for smartphones, tablets and PCs. The company said it had joined forces with four German IT security providers to create a package aimed at consumers and SMEs containing an anti-virus programme, an application for encrypted internet connections, a secure data storage unit, encryption software to protect data in the cloud and a programme that ensures privacy when surfing the web. The free offering will be available in the second quarter and a premium version with additional functions is also planned. Deutsche Telekom said the specific programs and services included in the free version of the package are the Avirus Antivirus application, the Steganos Online Shield VPN, the HiDrive online storage service from DT subsidiary Strato and the Boxcryptor software from Secomba for users who want to protect particularly sensitive data.
