Diageo 'resilient' in first half despite currency woes

Diageo chief executive Ivan Menezes said the company had "momentum and resilience", as sales grew 1.8%, on volumes up 1% in the first six months of the year. However the global drinks giant was badly affected by foreign exchange and the impact of disposals, which reduced net sales on a reported basis by A 400m to A 5,606m and operating profit by A 156m to A 1,613m.
