Dish settles with Disney over ad skipping

2014-03-04 08:50:00| Telecompaper Headlines

(Telecompaper) Dish Network has settled its dispute with Disney over ad-skipping in the pay-TV provider's set-top box and agreed a new licence deal with the broadcaster. Dish agreed to disable its AutoHop feature for customers watching content on Disney's network ABC for up to three days after broadcast. As a result the companies have agreed to withdraw their pending litigation. Dish customers will still have access to the feature on other channels. The agreement also gives them streaming and on-demand access to the Disney channels ABC Family, Disney Channel, ESPN and ESPN2, as well as live and on-demand access from computers and mobile devices of ESPN, Disney, ABC Family and ABC. In addition Dish will broadcast Disney Junior, Fusion, ESPN Goal Line, ESPN Buzzer Beater, as well as Longhorn Network and the upcoming SEC ESPN Network upon its launch. As part of the agreement, Dish also will launch ESPNEWS, ESPNU, Disney Channel and ABC Family in high definition. ESPN Classic will be reintroduced as a video-on-demand channel.
