(Telecompaper) The Dominican Telecommunications Institute (Indotel) is currently working on a major reform of the country's Telecommunications Act, reports Telesemana, citing Indotel executive director Leonardo Alberty Canela. The aim is to update the 1998 law to address several weaknesses and reflect changes in ICT development over the years, said Alberty at the Inter-American Telecommunications Conference (Citel) in Santo Domingo. The Indotel executive director added that the regulator was working with operators to lower the cost of internet access and expand the fibre-optic network to more remote parts of the country.
