Duke Energy closes $1B-plus purchase of power-plant shares from N.C. municipal utilities

Duke Energy Progress says it has closed its purchase of the partial interest in four coal and nuclear plants from the N.C. Eastern Municipal Power Authority. In a filing Friday afternoon with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Duke says the final cost ended up at $1.25 billion.
