2013-01-16 06:00:00| Industrial Newsroom - All News for Today

According to EPA's annual Toxics Release Inventory report, total toxic air releases in 2011 declined 8% from 2010, mostly because of decreases in hazardous air pollutant emissions, even while total releases of toxic chemicals increased for second year in a row. Among HAPs showing decline were hydrochloric acid and mercury. Releases into surface water decreased 3% and releases to land increased 19% since 2010, with the latter due primarily to the metal mining sector.
