EU opens antitrust probe into Danish telecom deal

European Union antitrust regulators have opened a detailed investigation into the planned merger of the Danish operations of Nordic telecom operators TeliaSonera and Telenor , warning the deal could lead to higher prices and less innovation. The proposed deal, announced in December, is the latest to come under scrutiny in Europe's telecom industry, which has been consolidating rapidly as operators seek to scale up and reduce costs.
