FAA Updates Standards, Tower Designs to save birds' lives.

2016-03-25 13:31:09| Industrial Newsroom - All News for Today

Changes made by FAA to its communication tower lighting standards were undertaken to save thousands of birds' lives each year. Tower lighting configurations for tall structures, used to warn pilots when approaching obstruction, include white and red steady-burning, flashing, and strobe lights as well as various combinations of all 3 types. Updated in December 2015, Advisory Circular (AC) for obstruction marking and lighting dictates tower lighting schemes should follow revised guidance.
