Facebook lets slip 6 mln e-mail addresses, phone numbers

2013-06-24 08:46:00| Telecompaper Headlines

(Telecompaper) Facebook admitted to having unintentionally shared approximately 6 million users' e-mail addresses and phone numbers with unauthorised viewers in the last year. The data leaks began in 2012 because of a technical glitch, according to the social network. Facebook users who downloaded contact information for their friends list received additional data they were not meant to have. Facebook, which has 1.1 billion users around the world, said it has no evidence that the vulnerability was exploited maliciously. It received no complaints nor does it evidence to suggest wrongdoing. Facebook nonetheless said it was 'upset and embarrassed' by the error.
