(Telecompaper) Wi-Fi provider Fon has unveiled a new router that also streams music, called the Gramofon. The player streams music over Wi-Fi, allowing the use of a smartphone as a remote control. The device also works as a hotspot, providing a local Wi-Fi network. Fon has partnered with Spotify to make the streaming music service accessible over the new device. The Gramofon will be available initially over the crowdfunding site Kickstarter. Those who buy it will also join the Fon network, gaining access to the company's over 12 million hotspots in the world. The Kickstarter campaign will offer Gramofon on a limited run and at a discounted price. Early Bird options offer the first edition product in white at USD 30 and USD 40 in black. The remaining will be offered at USD 50 and USD 60 respectively. Other perks to those who buy the Gramofon include invitations to Gramofon listening parties around the world, with Fon founder and CEO Martin Varsavsky and other key people in attendance.
