Step-up converter APE1612-3, capable of driving up to 8 white LEDs in series for backlighting applications, uses current mode, 1.2 MHz fixed frequency architecture to regulate LED current, which is set using external current sense resistor. While 300 mV feedback voltage reduces power loss and promotes efficiency, 200 Hz to 200 kHz range enables use in PWM dimming. Over-voltage, UVLO, current limiting, and thermal shutdown protection features are standard.
