A Special Use request to turn a vacant property on State Road 64 into an auto sales business narrowly passed Wednesday, after Bradenton City Council members debated the merits of having a dealership sit at the city's main entrance from I-75. Bemis Smith, who voted 'no' on the 3-2 motion, said he was concerned about the effects of placing a car lot at what he called the "primary visual corridor" area for the city.
