General Mills, Land O'Lakes may have to kick trans fats under new FDA rules

The Food and Drug Administration on Tuesday tightened restrictions on the use of partially hydrogenated oils, a prime source of trans fats. Reworking recipes that rely on those ingredients could mean big costs for companies like General Mills Inc. and Land O'Lakes Inc. The Wall Street Journal reports on the new rules , which, though not an outright ban, require companies to seek FDA approval before using partially hydrogenated oils starting in 2018.
