General Mills cost-cutting starts with two factory closures

The Golden Valley-based food maker plans to close a yogurt manufacturing facility in Methuen, Mass., and a cereal-making operation in Lodi, Calif. Just 24 hours earlier, top executives at General Mills said they would roll out a plan called "Project Century" to cut $100 million from its North American manufacturing and supply chain network starting this quarter.
