Google to launch live streams with YouTube Gaming

2015-06-15 08:33:00| Telecompaper Headlines

(Telecompaper) Google has announced plans to launch YouTube Gaming this summer, starting in the US and UK, writes product manager Alan Joyce on the YouTube blog. The new app and website will offer videos and live streams, and aims to become "the biggest community of gamers on the web." Over 25,000 games will each have their own page with videos and live streams. There will also be channels from a broad range of game publishers and YouTube creators. Users will be able to subscribe to game channels to be notified as soon as a live stream begins. A recommendation engine will suggest new games based on users' favourite games and channels. YouTube will launch an improved live experience in the coming weeks to make it simpler for users to broadcast their gameplay. Features include 60 fps streaming, DVR and automatic conversion of users' streams into YouTube videos. The company said it would demonstrate YouTube Gaming at the E3 trade show during the week of 15 June.
