Govt to cultivate sugar cane on 2,000 hectares

Sugar Industry Development Minister Lakshman Seneviratne yesterday said the government has taken measures to cultivate sugar cane in 2,000 hectares by the end of this year and increase it to 4,000 by 2014 to reduce the expenditure on sugar imports, which is nearly Rs 65,000 million a year.
