The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced recently an advance notice of proposed rulemaking for stronger underride guards on single unit trucks, which is the first step of a larger initiative to improve trucking safety regulations. This announcement calls for residents to submit public comments on upgraded underride crash protection on these single-chassis vehicles such as garbage trucks, concrete mixers and local delivery trucks.
