The Ada resident and retired Meijer Inc. executive cast the sole dissenting vote on Tuesday, April 28, against "brownfield" tax credits that could be used to build parking on the former Grand Rapids Press site. The request was for up to $28.8 million in tax breaks for private developers who will build next to Michigan State University's new Grand Rapids Research Center on the 4.3-acre site.
