The earthquake hit at 2:18 a.m. on Saturday and the epicenter was an estimated 5 miles north of the town of Naalehu at a depth of 6 miles. The Big Island of Hawaii, as the name implies, is the largest of the Hawaiian Islands and the only of the islands with an active volcano.
