Hawaii refuses culture-based mediation for telescope arrests

A form of mediation based in Hawaiian tradition won't be an option for protesters arrested for blocking construction of a giant telescope. The state won't participate in the mediation known as hooponopono, said Josh Wisch, spokesman for the state attorney general's office, in a statement Wednesday.
