Auto executives descending on Geneva this coming week for the annual motor show are bringing a lineup of new models heavy on sport-utility vehicles that they hope will keep European auto sales growing in 2016. While new car sales advanced a healthy 10% in Europe last year, demand remains well below its precrisis peak and most forecasts put volume growth at just between 2% and 3% this year.
