Intel Capital invests in FreedomPop, Sckipio

(Telecompaper) Intel Capital announced a new round of financing worth over USD 22 million for ten startups. The new investments put the company on track to invest over USD 500 million in total this year. The announcement was made at the annual Intel Capital Global Summit in San Diego. The latest investments included the 'freemium' mobile provider FreedomPop, G.fast chip developer Sckipio amd LISNR, developer of the Smart Tones protocol for sending data over audio. Other investments included UK-based what3words, provider of a location search and addressing platform; human body data specialist Body Labs; Microprogram Information, a Taiwanese IoT products provider for the transport and transactions sectors; and Perfant Technology, a Chinese developer of a panoramic camera and imaging technologies for artificial intelligence, 3-D reconstruction and virtual reality. Intel also invested in the wireless charging network Chargifi, laser systems developer KMLabs, advanced batteries developer Prieto Battery, and the early stage company Parallel Machines, which is focused on providing highly optimized environments for advancing predictive analytics and machine learning.
