The furore over the Jimi Hendrix biopic Jimi: All Is By My Side last year - the rock star's former girlfriend Kathy Etchingham described it as "wildly inaccurate" and a "completely unethical" Hollywood product - saw the Australian Centre for the Moving Image in Melbourne scrap a planned season late last month. Now a retired real estate agent living in Melbourne, Etchingham has campaigned against the biopic since its Australian premiere at the Sydney Film Festival last year, claiming writer-director John Ridley wrongly shows her as a dysfunctional heavy drinker and drug user who was beaten up by Hendrix.
