Koch Industries said in 2014 its companies directly employed 60,000 people in the 50 states and District of Columbia, and paid compensation and benefits of more than $5.3 billion. The company said the analysis doesn't include more than 3,100 open positions within Koch companies nor the nearly 7,000 contractors who work for Koch companies in the U.S. "When we first conducted this study in 2010, Koch employed about 50,000 people in 46 states," Dave Robertson, Koch Industries president and COO, said in the release.
