(Telecompaper) LG Electronics will unveil its first LTE-enabled smartwatch at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The LG Watch Urbane LTE, the company's fourth smartwatch, also includes NFC to facilitate data sharing and payments. The device features a 1.3-inch Plastic-OLED display and 700mAh battery, and like a 4G phone, can make and answer calls as well as send and receive SMS. With carrier support, the smartwatch offers push-to-talk (PTT) capability with other devices on the same cellular network so customers can use the watch similar to a walkie-talkie. The watch runs the new LG Wearable Platform operating system and otherwise carries most of the features of the earlier LG G Watch R. A button on the side of the phone acts as the 'back' function when pressed quickly and becomes a safety beacon when pressed longer, automatically dialing any preset phone number as well as sending the location coordinates of the wearer. The device also comes with health features such as a built-in heart rate monitor and motion sensors to track fitness goals.
