Landowners file suit against Railroads over hazardous waste

Several landowners, including the Salvation Army, have filed suit in state court against the Union Pacific and Southern Pacific railroad over toxic waste they say should be cleaned up in downtown Lafayette. The suit, filed Monday in Lafayette, claims that the contamination at the 40-acre site, is well-documented in studies and reports produced by the state Department of Environmental Quality.
