There was a large turnout, including many Westporters, today at the New York funeral at Temple Emanu-El of Susan R. Malloy, noted Westport artist, art patron, and philanthropist, who died Tuesday at age 91. Daughter Jennifer Malloy Combs brought laughter from mourners when she recalled her mother, not wanting to be confrontational with a young Jennifer, once left a note on her pillow which said: 'It's not very nice to leave your clothes on the floor." But she said her mother could also be very direct, asking her when she was 12 and beginning to ride in horse show competitions, "Why don't you ever win?" Added Combs: "I won the next week."
