Loud and proud pork

2017-06-16 18:42:00| National Hog Farmer

The new marketing strategy of the National Pork Board is to eliminate the firewall between pig production and pork, explains NPB CEO Bill Even to an audience at the World Pork Expo. “Until now, the discussion with consumers has been about pork or food-related and we kept behind the firewall the actual talk around raising hogs. We are going to breakdown that barrier. We are going to level that off. We need to be able to reach our consumer with the right message in the right format at the right time,” stresses Even. Consumers are looking at food differently and one main focus is protein.  “We are no longer going to be the ‘other’ anything. We need to be loud and proud about whom we are,” Even firmly states. “We are pork and we are the original protein.”
