Lower age for truckers? North Jersey weighs in

2015-07-22 08:49:42| Trucking - Topix.net

The trucking industry in New Jersey, like the rest of the country, is struggling to attract younger drivers to replace aging truckers, and some in the industry are hoping legislation to lower the interstate driving age can help ease the looming driver shortage. A federal bill introduced this month by Republican senators seeks to lower the age requirement of commercial drivers traveling between states to 18 from 21. By dropping the driving age, companies can draw younger talent that often migrates into competing fields with less stringent age requirements, such as construction.
