Manhattan online student lender raises $35M from ex-Citi CEO, others

CommonBond, which refinances student loans at lower interest rates than borrowers can get through traditional channels, has raised $35 million in a Series B round, the company announced Tuesday. The round was led by August Capital, with participation from Nyca Partners and existing investors, including existing high-profile backers like former Citibank CEO Vikram Pandit and former Thomson Reuters CEO Tom Glocer.
