Mattel Releasing 'Curvy' Barbie in Bid to Restore Doll's Appeal

Mattel Inc. is adding three body types to its Barbie line, including a "curvy" model, after years of criticism that the doll presents an unrealistic body image. The new variations also include tall and petite body types, as well as different skin tones, hairstyles and outfits, the El Segundo, California-based company said in a statement Thursday.
