MediaTek shows first 5G chip, to launch in H2 2019

(Telecompaper) MediaTek has previewed its first 5G processor for smartphones at the China Mobile Global Partner Conference in Guangzhou. The Helio M70 is expected to launch in the second half of 2019, supporting 5G New Radio standards on both a standalone and non-standalone basis. The chip works on sub-6GHz frequency bands and is designed to deliver up to 5 Gbps based on the 3GPP Release 15 specifications.

EE confirmed as global 5G launch partner for OnePlus

(Telecompaper) EE has announced an agreement with OnePlus to become the first mobile operator worldwide to offer the OnePlus 5G smartphone in 2019. OnePlus made the announcement of EE as its 5G launch partner at the Qualcomm summit event in Hawaii.
