Merck sells $2 billion in bonds to finance Sigma-Aldrich acquisition

Merck KGaA has sold $2.36 billion in bonds, which represents the last major piece of financing needed for its $17 billion acquisition of Sigma-Aldrich . Germany-based Merck said the bond sale was "heavily oversubscribed" and included interest from institutional investors such as fund managers, insurance companies, pension funds and banks.
