MetroCard 'coding problem' holding up some riders

Long Island Rail Road riders holding monthly tickets combined with unlimited-ride MetroCards were in for a surprise Monday: Their cards didn't work at subway turnstiles. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority said the issue "appears to be a coding problem" with the cards issued to both LIRR and Metro-North riders for December.
