Mexico's biggest hotel operator to open its first property in Chicago in 2017

Grupo Posadas, which bills itself as Mexico's largest hotel operator, is joining forces with Las Vegas-based private equity firm Bighorn Capital to bring the GP's high-end boutique hotel brand, Live Aqua, to Chicago. Per its agreement with Grupo Posadas, Bighorn Capital will invest $450 million to develop Live Aqua properties in Chicago and four other United States markets - Los Angeles, Miami, Houston and Washington, D.C. Grupo Posadas said these five markets were initially targeted for the new hotels because they have substantial Hispanic populations and attract numerous Latin American travelers that will help fill the hotels with guests.
