Microchip Technology Inc. is reconsidering its interest in Atmel Corp. after Atmel's business struggled in the fourth quarter, according to a person with knowledge of the situation. Atmel, based in San Jose, California, received an unsolicited offer from an unnamed buyer in December, according to a statement at the time.
