Between 1993 and 2013 motorcycle deaths increased 86 percent from 2,346 to 4,381, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, which analyzed National Highway Traffic Safety Administration statistics. Car crash deaths decreased 29 percent from 29,994 to 21,268 during the same period.
