(Telecompaper) NBN Co, the Australian company rolling out the National Broadband Network, has commercially launched Fibre to the Building (FTTB) technology. NBN Co's FTTB service allows families and businesses in multi-dwelling units (such as apartment complexes and office blocks) to receive broadband services by connecting fibre-optic cable to existing building wiring. NBN Co is currently deploying FTTB technology to 6,000 homes and businesses in Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra. Over one million homes and businesses across Australia will receive the National Broadband Network over FTTB.
