NREL played crucial role in technology that led DuPont, POET, and Abengoa to open commercial-scale facilities to turn biomass into clean transportation fuels. Companies turned to NREL for biofuels expertise—POET for pretreatment, Abengoa for compositional analysis, and DuPont for crucial steps in process. Combined, facilities are helping meet Department's goals of producing clean energy from non-food parts of plants, creating jobs, mitigating GHGs, and boosting America's energy security.
