NRG vs. Centerpoint: Houston power project debate heats up

NRG Energy Inc. announced it is building a new natural-gas fired electricity plant near Houston as the company continues to push back against a more extensive Houston electricity project proposed by CenterPoint Energy Inc. and endorsed by the Electric Reliability Council of Texas board of directors. NRG Executive Vice President John Ragan said the company has broken ground on a $150 million, 360 megawatt plant near Bacliff, which is southeast of Houston.
