NTSB issued recommendations urging NHTSA to take action to improve safety of tractor-trailers. In addition to eliminating blind spots, recommendations call on NHTSA to require that newly manufactured truck-tractors and trailers be equipped with side underride protection systems, and that revisions be made to improve rear underride guard standards.
