Navy to commission new USS Little Rock beside namesake

Two pages of history will be written when a sleek new combat vessel cruises into Canalside and is commissioned as the USS Little Rock beside its namesake. The commissioning will mark the first time in modern Buffalo history a ship has been accepted into the U.S. Navy's fleet here, and the first time in Navy history that a ship has been commissioned beside a decommissioned ship bearing the same name, according to officials at the Buffalo & Erie County Naval and Military Park.
