(Telecompaper) Norwegian operator Netcom, a subsidiary of TeliaSonera, said it set a new world speed record in Oslo on its mobile network. The company used LTE Advanced Pro technology developed with Huawei to reach speeds up to 1 Gbps. Norway's minister of transport and communication Ketil Solvik-Olsen and the Norwegian press attended the event. On the same day six years ago Netcom claimed the world's first introduction of 4G. The latest demonstration was based on an outdoor base station and real-life conditions. Netcom combined four frequency bands (800, 1,800, 2,100, 2,600 MHz) to deliver the new top speed. Huawei said the test prepares the way for the commercial introduction of 4.5G technology next year.
