Netflix to finance films for theatres

(Telecompaper) Netflix said it will finance movies that will debut simultaneously in theatres and on its streaming video service, starting with a sequel to "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" (2000), Re/Code reported. The film will be produced by the Weinstein Company. The "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: The Green Legend" will debut on Netflix in August and at some Imax theaters. It will not appear in any other theatre chains.
