Australian Mike Simcoe, 58, begins taking over for Ed Welburn on May 1 as vice president of design for General Motors, a job with global responsibility. Although stationed overseas for much of his 33 years with GM, Simcoe has had a hand in shaping many vehicles familiar in North America.
