Independent trucker Doug Steider, of Indiana, takes a break at the Lincoln Oasis in South Holland on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015 -- the day a 40 percent toll hike for trucks and trailers takes effect in Illinois. He pays about $80 more for his trip hauling milk between Madison, Wis., and Indiana.
